Xbox 360 VS Playstation 3
I’m seeing a lot of bad press lately for the PS3. Mostly they are related to the complexity of the PS3 platform. Especially developers seem to be leaving the PS3 and heading for the Xbox 360 where development is a lot easier. This comes as no surprise since traditionally Microsoft has been very developer oriented and this shows in the way they open up their platforms for developers making it very easy to start developing software on those platforms. Microsoft also has a lot of experience with platforms and their development tools have certainly improved a lot over the years.
Another advantage Microsoft has is that they are integrating Xbox 360 game development with PC game development. Not only the software technologies are being integrated, but also the hardware. For example, the Xbox 360 controllers will also work on a PC. Xbox Live! will also come to the PC in the near future. So when you look at these things, you should easily be able to understand why Xbox 360 is more appealing to developers. Easy and familiar platform to develop on, powerful development tools and the ability to easily target both the console and PC gaming market. After all, due to the integration and availability of both hardware and software technologies on both the Xbox 360 and PC, it will be easy for developers to target both platforms with a single product and easily make more money with little extra effort.
Ofcourse there’s also the fact that the PS3 is going to be more expensive, but this shouldn’t have to be a problem. If the PS3 can offer a unique experience to gamers and make life easy for developers, the higher price could be justified in the end, depending on the value to both gamers and developers. After all, you have to realize that wasn’t it for the fact that Microsoft has tons of extra cash laying around which enables them to sell the Xbox 360 at a loss, the Xbox 360 would also cost much higher than it will cost at launch time.
So the question that remains is, how far is Sony with regards to PS3 development? Are they too far to consider changing a few things? Or can they afford to make some big changes to be able to better position the product especially when developers are concerned? And do they actually realize they seem to be in a disadvantage compared to the Xbox 360?
Microsoft has some big advantages over Sony right now, and so far it doesn’t seem like Sony will be able to effectively compete against the Xbox 360. Analysts are also predicting that on the way to 2008, Xbox is going to take the lead in the console market. And that seems like a realistic prediction to me, certainly not just because that was also my prediction 2 years ago.

‘..doesn’t seem like Sony will be able to effectively compete…’; Well indeed, how will SONY compete against a system where three semitrical cores are running at 3.2 Gig and where you have 2 hardware threads per core (total of 6).
GEARS OF WARS portrays what the XBOX360 was designed for. SUPREME photo realistic games!
And even then the game uses just one core. So imaging the power which can be exploited on such a platform as the XBOX360.And no wonder game designers are shifting to the xbox.

You all should just look at the specs and see sony is a superior system, you should also see the only thing XBOX has is online multiplayer like halo. XOBX has only sold 28 million systems, whlie sony has sold 92 million systems. alos if you look at the recent E3 trailers, sony has a clear graphics advantage and about 2.0 tgflops. XBOX does have a better online though

Hmmmmnnn Sony actually has the most cash laying around. Since they have there hands in everything from movies, consumer, prosumer and professional electronics, tv production, and manufacturing. They even make money off of the cd and dvd logos on every cd/dvd pressed based on royalties. So sony is a company that can make money sitting idle. While microsoft has to shell out money to fight an uphill battle to grab a position in the console market. It is worth the loss for microsoft to grab a position in the console market because there can be only two major console in the market at a time and it seems that nintendo is kinda just hanging on. As far as previous sales ndcepeda doesnt realize the microsoft is new in the console market of course the xbox wouldnt have as many sale because they havent built up enough consumer confidence yet. As far as hardware I feel that the systems are equally matched and the battle is between nvidia and ati. ps3 can have 9billion teraflops of processing power but a gaming system is limited by its video hardware. So It can still suck if Nvidia hasnt done its job. The Xbox has 3 Symetrical 3.2ghz cores sony has spe’s (or units to handle specific io intensive operations such as ray tracing, and physics) built into its processor. Brute power is not allways as effiecient as specialized hardware but it does provide flexability. Microsoft has chose flexability and higher cost per unit and sony chose specialization and lower cost per unit. I think in the end we all lose in the end because a console should never cost $500, let alone $400. I think we should boycott both system till they make consesions lower the prices between $300 - $100

Hey Everyone,
You should really try to understand both the specifications on xBox 360 and the Ps3 before deciding which is better. According to Paul the Ps3’s processor beats xBox 360’s. xBox and Ps3 have their own unique features, it’s hard to decypher which is ‘better’.

Just though I’d leave my comment.

ps3 will have nearly as impressive graphics and gameplay as the 360 but the lack of some of the cool features of the 360(like the revamped xbox lve) make the dirty japs lick s**t covered horse balls.

I m a PC person even though i have ps3 and xbox 360 just a simple theory applies to computer as well.. Dual processor are good for network or shared computers only in gamers language good for internet gaming .. one processor which is power full obviously going to work for only internal purpose soo in this way playstation3 is good at performance and xbox360 is good at online gaming…. outcome it depends what kind of gamer u r !!!!!!
