Orwell Rolls in His Grave

There’s a documentary available for download right now called “Orwell Rolls in His Grave.” It contains a lot of good information about the way the corporate media seems to work right now, and how they all have links with the government and politicians and can easily be influenced by them in order to forward their own agenda. This is certainly a must see, and goes well with another documentary I mentioned before called “Outfoxed.”

Seeing both of those documentaries will change the way you look at the media today. The corporate media are very powerful, so powerful in fact, that they can essentially create reality. Because of the fact that they reach a large amount of people all over the world, they can influence public opinion, and indeed have people believe whatever they want. How else do you think that the majority of the people were convinced that Iraq should be invaded? How else did the majority come to believe that Iraq had WMDs, when in fact, there was no evidence for this? How else did more than half of the people in the USA come to think that Iraq was responsible for 9/11, when most of the alleged hijackers were from Saudi Arabia?

Also very interesting are two interviews, one with Professor Steven Jones, which you can download here, where he talks about the WTC controlled demolition possibilities and his research into that, and the second one with Professor James Fetzer, of which you can download the first part here, and the second part here. Fetzer talks about the attacks at the Pentagon and the WTC. Very interesting interviews. Both of these researchers are members and founders of the Scholars for 9/11 Truth.

And although the 9/11 Truth movement as a whole are making good progress, it seems the US government is fighting back, with one of their most recent hits being that it has become more difficult for government wistleblowers to come forward with any information that may expose the truth to the rest of the people, among other things. This, ofcourse, is to maintain the secrecy and keep valuable information from reaching the public, so that they can not make their own informed decisions. It should come as no surprise for example, when you see the various FBI and CIA agents who want to talk and come forward with the truth and are trying to do so for years now, not able to effectively do so because of gag orders placed by the government. Even the firefighters who witnessed what happened at the WTC had gag orders placed on them for obvious reasons. Americans are losing more of their rights every day. The new CIA director is even making plans for even more massive spying on Americans:

Now that he is officially sworn in as the new head of the Central Intelligence Agency, Gen. Michael Hayden plans to build a vast domestic spying network that will pry into the lives of most Americans around the clock.

President George W. Bush told Hayden to “take whatever steps necessary” to monitor Americans 24/7 by listening in on their phone calls, bugging their homes and offices, probing their private lives, snooping into their financial records and watching their travel habits.

“This is not ‘total information awareness’ but ‘total information control’ aimed at watching Americans fulltime and ignoring the protections that are supposed to be guaranteed by the Constitution,” says an FBI agent familiar with the programs. “I didn’t sign on for this and I’m getting the hell out.”

In fact, resignations at major U.S. spy agencies are at an all-time high. Exact numbers are classified but sources say field agents, data analysts and others are leaving in droves rather than join the frenzy to spy on Americans.

Just recently a whistleblower came forward with evidence of AT&T helping the NSA to spy on Americans. This is all possible, ofcourse, due to the patriot act. And the patriot act is possible, because of the constant fear the government bestows on its people so that they willingly give away even more of their rights for the sake of protection. Didn’t you hear about the latest Osama Tape that’s supposed to make people afraid of another attack? Well, experts conclude that it’s fake.

And while all of that is taking place, you have Bush making remarks like:

Last week, Bush said he was concerned about the erosion of democracy in Venezuela and Bolivia. The White House has accused Venezuela of being uncooperative in the U.S. war against terrorism and of promoting instability in the region.

Forget about Orwell rolling in his grave. Chances are he’ll dig himself out of his grave in the near future to talk some sense into people.

Link TV tackles democracy in America

LINK TV (DIRECTV ch. 375, Dish Network ch. 9410), available to 27 million American homes, will broadcast a four-hour special on the consequences of corporate media, the true meaning of ?independent media? and the continued struggle for democracy as the country begins to gear up for the 2008 presidential election on Sunday, June 25 and Friday, July 7 at 5 p.m. PST and 8 p.m. EST.

The special, ?Democracy for Sale?? will feature the critically acclaimed film ?Counting on Democracy,? which investigates charges of disenfranchisement and the 180,000 uncounted Florida votes cast largely by the working poor and people of color during the 2000 election. It takes viewers on a political and social rollercoaster ? from election night to 36 days later when the Supreme Court made the highly controversial decision to halt the recount and call the election for George W. Bush. Guest Greg Palast, who has been hailed ?the most important investigative reporter of our time? and is the author of the recently released ?Armed Madhouse,? will be on hand to discuss his groundbreaking BBC investigation into the 2000 election scandal and why the BBC was the only media outlet to broadcast it.

Activist Megan Matson, founder of the action group Mainstreet Moms, will address creating a system where people who care about election fraud, dirty politics and the disfranchisement of select groups of the population can band together and force change. Matson, who appeared in Mary Beth Brangan?s short film ?Got Democracy?,? also touches on the dangers of electronic voting and what ordinary citizens can do to help preserve democracy for future generations.

The special will also feature a screening of director Robert Kane Pappas? ?Orwell Rolls in his Grave,? which provides an examination of modern media and its impact on our political culture, asking whether America has entered an Orwellian world of doublespeak where outright lies can pass for the truth. Pacifica Radio?s ?Democracy Now!? host Amy Goodman will join via satellite to discuss the state of election reform.

Learn why you should care about the state of Democracy in the U.S. by tuning in.
